Fragmented / The Essence I
2017, 192 x 137cm.
Oil, wax, thread and acrylic on cotton.
Painted on an embossed tablecloth, the work work focuses on the concentration of chaos and its containment only by elements resembling what is essentially human, and ingrained at birth. Featuring interpretive traditional crockery pattern, it recalls a "feast" of joy, an emergence of spirit. Structurally made to resemble a main square, the process of its creation and display serves almost as protective ritual, a cry for peace, an attempt at unification. This work is inspired by Eastern European folklore and is made in response to current turbulence.
